Remodeling Phase 2
The 2012 remodeling begins on March 21st until the last week of May. First, the old carpeting will be removed then each floor prepared for installation of the new carpet. This will take approximately 7 days in total for the whole building. The next stage includes patching walls, painting, installing wall-coverings, lighting, and new furnishings and accessories, beginning on the 7th floor and working down to the 2nd. All work will take place on weekdays and between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm.
A detailed notice will be delivered to residents 2 weeks prior to the start date.Ventilation will be provided to the hallways for the duration. Residents with environmental sensitivities are encouraged to review the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) posted in the resource centre and basement bulletin board. These sheets contain information on the chemicals used in the various products being installed. Any residents with special needs or sensitivity issues should contact the Board should they require additional information.
Call for Board of Directors Nominations
The Nominating Committee of the Board of Directors is seeking nominees from among owners in good standing of HCCC #171 (The Anchorage) who wish to be considered for an upcoming vacancy on the Board of Directors. In June 2012 Cliff Murray’s term on the Board ends.
If you are interested in being nominated, please write approximately 200 words about yourself, including reasons why your contributions on the board will be valuable. Indicate your availability to work on Board business (i.e., monthly meetings, committee work, or taking leadership roles in assignments/projects, etc.). Include a photo in your submission if possible. Bring this information to the attention of the Chair of the Nominating committee: Jeannette McGlone, Unit 706, email: jmcglone@dal.ca, phone 830-4179 BEFORE Apr 01, 2012.
Optical Fiber Cable
Starting in April, The Anchorage is going to be wired for the modern media age. A contractor for Bell Aliant is going to pull optical fiber cable to every unit in the building. The cable will run in the overhead of the hallways, and a junction box will be installed above the false ceiling outside each unit. There will also be a small access door installed similar to those in the ceilings now. The work should take less than a week with minimal disruption in the hallways. This is being done now to coincide with remodeling floors 2-7, so fresh paint will cover any modifications. Once the cable is in place, residents could then contact Aliant to have their units connected to the latest high speed internet has to offer.
